How to Apply to Union College

Please be aware that the Union College application process is independent to other residential colleges at The University of Queensland.

Step 1: Preparation

Before beginning your application, you will need to gather the following information:

  • Your personal and contact details
  • A recent passport sized colour photo of yourself (head and shoulders) that you can upload
  • Your family details
  • Details of your education history, including any results (have an electronic copy you can email)
  • Details of any special needs (eg. medical, dietary)
  • International student details (if applicable)
  • Referee details
Payment of the non-refundable Application Fee (AUD $110) can be made by credit card during the application process in order to complete the application process.

Step 2: Your Application

To apply for residency at Union College, please complete the Online Application Form on our website.

In the application we ask you to give us statements about yourself, including any sporting, cultural or community activities, We also ask what your values are and describe a memorable event or incident in your life.

Payment of the non-refundable Application Fee (AUD $110) can be made by credit card during the application process in order to complete the application process.

Step 3: Interview confirmation

The interview is an important part of the selection process. Prospective applicants are encouraged to arrange an interview as soon as possible after receiving confirmation that their application has been received by the College.

After you have received confirmation that your application has been received, Domestic Applicants are required to contact the College as soon as possible to arrange an interview with the Head of College.

International Applicants residing in Brisbane are required to take part in the interview process.

Parents are very welcome and encouraged to participate in the interview process. Local or near-Brisbane applicants must be interviewed in person. Those from other areas are encouraged to visit the College for an interview if possible. Some interviews can be undertaken by telephone (from more remote locations), or in person when the Head of College conducts regional visits. Interviews after November are by special arrangement only.
