Meals & Dining
Union is a fully catered college, providing residents 3 wholesome and nutritious meals each day, including weekends, semester holidays and examination periods.

A variety of dishes and vegetarian options are provided for residents each day in the College’s modern dining hall and outdoor eating terrace, which overlooks the UQ campus and college gardens. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with consultation with The Head of College.

Meals at Union College are very social with friendly staff and residents from different courses, year levels and backgrounds chatting and socialising together.

Throughout set times each semester, we have intimate and friendly invitational formal dinners which allow you the opportunity to meet other residents and enjoy a specially prepared menu and associated wines, whilst being entertained by invited speakers and entertainers.

Your residential fees cover three meals per day, 7 days per week. Packed lunches and early/late meals are available to residents in pursuit of academic endeavours (during weekdays). Morning and afternoon tea are provided during SWOTVAC and examination periods. Vending machines provide meal snacks outside dining times.


A full hot breakfast is available to residents every day, which includes cereal, juice, toast, yoghurt and fresh fruit.

A lunch-making facility is available on weekdays at this time to make a sandwich, wrap or lunch roll if you have uni commitments during lunchtime.


A variety of hot lunch options are available to residents each day, as well as a variety of cold meats, salads, breads and fresh fruit.

Lunchtime meal vouchers are available for purchase at the office, for guests visiting residents.


A hot meal is available for dinner every night of the week. Special themed evenings and formal Invitational Dinner occasions are held at set times throughout the semester. There is a special dessert treat every Friday night.

Early and late dinner options are available for residents with late uni and sporting commitments.
