Find your focus with the space, structure, and community to study well.

Solo or supported, there’s plenty of spaces to study at Union College. With academic counselling, a robust tutorials program, and fully equipped rooms, we’ll back you and your university journey.

Feel confident and get ahead of the curve with our unique Tutorial Program!

This flagship program has been established for decades, boosting confidence (and the GPAs!) of generations of Union College residents.

Our comprehensive scope of tutorials means that every Union College resident can request tutors for any of their enrolled subjects, regardless of their degree or university.

Our tutors are sourced from industry, academia, and top-ranking students, so you can be confident you’re receiving support that matches your needs.

Tutorials are held in dedicated Tutorial Rooms, equipped with SmartBoards or remotely via video-conference software.

Have a handle on the course content but need help with foundational work? We provide tailored sessions for academic writing, study techniques, coding basics, and neurodivergent-friendly tutorials.

Academic & Career Counselling

Your university journey will present you with opportunities that lay outside Union College, and we’re ready to support those too. Our qualified academic and career counselling is available year-round to all residents. We provide tailored support with resume and interview skills, internship planning, and industry links, with real, life-changing outcomes.

"The career counselling offered at college has been an absolute game-changer for me. [It] helped me refine my resume so I could it submit it to HDF Energy, receive NCP grant funding, and work for 9 weeks in Indonesia. This was a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, which I credit in large part [sic] to career counselling, as it helped me believe in myself."

Sophia Dark

3rd year Bachelor of Environmental Management (Honours) at UQ. Sophia also received the NCP Scholarship with support from our Academic & Career Counselling team.

Academic support is also available, if you need advice with degree planning, study loads, or managing your coursework.

Wellbeing Support

At Union College, resident wellbeing sits at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive community where every resident feels supported to thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Our approach to wellbeing is grounded in care, community, and connection, recognising that living well is essential to succeeding at university. we align ourselves with national higher education standards, including prevention and response to gender-based violence, and providing accessible pathways to raise concerns and access support.

Residents also benefit from a broader living and learning environment designed to support wellbeing through inclusive community events, healthy catered meals, academic support, and opportunities for social connection. Together, these elements create a caring and supportive community where residents are empowered to look after themselves and each other.

Our Resident Wellbeing Lead provides dedicated, professional support to all residents, advocates for and coordinates all aspects of wellbeing, and acts as the first point of contact for residents seeking guidance and/or support.

Peer Support

Our Resident Mentor (RMs) program is a key component of our pastoral care framework. RMs offer friendly, approachable peer mentorship to support residents — particularly those new to university or quite a distance from home — navigate challenges, build confidence, and find their feet within our bustling community.

Each floor has a dedicated Resident Mentor, however, some of our RMs hold specific responsibilities, supporting the overall wellbeing, engagement, and functioning of our college.
