On Sunday, 6th March, before most of us were out of bed, a number of Union College ladies banded together to complete the International Women’s Day Fun Run at South Bank. Resident Mentor, Amity Langford was the driving force behind the team, after hearing about it and sharing it with her friends, they soon had a team of 12 to complete the event. Donned in pink with a touch of Union red, the girls joined a sea of 12 000 to complete the 5km course around the Brisbane CBD and South Bank.
Breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer in women in Australia with over 15 000 women diagnosed each year with the International Women’s Day Fun Run raising awareness and much needed funds for practical breast cancer support through Mater Chicks in Pink. The Union team have so far raised $150, helping to contribute to the $475 000 raised in total by this event.
Congratulations to Amity Langford, Emma Knight, Mia Jordon, Hannah Portbury, Isabelle Adams, Jacinta Davis, Julia White, Kaitlyn Micah, Kitty Ji, Lucy Watts, Romney Setch & Samantha Schofield for being excellent ambassadors for Union College at a very worthwhile event.

We look forward to hearing about other Community Service activities Union College residents participate in as the year goes on.
